Female dogs and cats are spayed by removing their uterus and ovaries and male dogs and cats are neutered by removing their testicles

The ARC Mobile Clinic is a state-of-theart surgical facility, staffed by a Florida licensed veterinarian and two veterinary technicians. It operates throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties on a regular schedule. Every year more than 8,000 adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. ARC seeks to end the killing of adoptable dogs and cats through an aggressive spay/neuter program. Our program attacks the problem at its cause and is not just a "band-aid" fix.

The ARC Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic is the most exciting and effective Spay/Neuter program in the history of Sarasota and Manatee Counties. It provides free and low-cost services to income-eligible families in high-need areas.

Most importantly, you will prevent countless future generations of unwanted dogs and cats from entering a world that has no room for them.It helps dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives. • It can eliminate or reduce future health problems that can be difficult and expensive to treat.• It makes pets better companions. • It makes pets less aggressive, less likely to bite, roam the neighborhood, get hit by automobiles and get into fights.

"My pet will get fat and lazy."
The truth is that most pets get fat and lazy because their owners feed them too much and don’t give them enough exercise. It is not caused by a spay/neuter.

"It’s better to have one litter first."
Medical evidence indicates just the opposite. In fact, the evidence shows that females spayed before their first heat are typically healthier and neutered males have a lower incidence of some cancers.

"I want my dog to be protective." Spaying or neutering does not affect a dog’s natural instinct to protect home and family.

"I don’t want my male dog or cat to feel like less of a male."

Pets don’t have any concept of sexual identity or ego. Neutering will not change a pet’s basic personality. He doesn’t suffer any kind of emotional reaction or identity crisis when neutered. It will decrease sexually orientated behavior (aggressiveness, fighting, roaming and urinary marking) which is undesirable.
